leos and noise....

ericmc83 Nov 01, 2003 10:20 PM

First of all, I want to say that I live in a dorm and don't have a lot of choice on where to put my leo. One reason is cause it's small...the other reason is cause I have my bearded dragon in here already in a 65 or so gallon enclosure that takes up some of the little room I have. I'm not supposed to have anything but fish in the dorm, but I haven't been caught yet Anyway, my leo's tank is currently next to my TV. I don't watch a lot of TV but I do have it on just for noise sometimes during the day. Could the noise stress my leo? It seems that he is a little cranker lately and I was wondering if he could be stressed by the noise. Thanks in advance for any advice. ~Eric M

Yeah I think he might get stressed because of the noise. Most of this is partly because they sleep during the day and the noise might keep them up and cause them to be a little more jittery. If you're TV isn't too loud, then I think it might be okay~

I'm thinking it's probably the constant vibration that would irritate/nauseate him. If your leo is still a baby, the noise would be scary. But my adults don't really respond to noise. I could clap my hands outside the tank and they wouldn't even look.

lol your leos are cool

with my leo, if he hears anything loud or a new sound, he goes running & hiding... i'm assuming it's coz he's still 5 months and not an adult yet?

when i turn the day bulbs to the night bulbs, i call him out - and he usually does come coz that's when i feed him... but if my brother comes in my room asking me something or talkin near the door (across the room), my leo darts to one of his hides and pokes his head out my leo is such a nerd and then if i turn the radio on during the day for a little bit, he keeps his eyes open until i turn it off (he likes to sleep behind his warm hide against the glass)

Aww, Melvin's just being smart and careful. Caesar's also 5 months (actually, more like 6) and he'll go back into hiding if I just stare at him for too long.

I don't know whether your leo is being stressed by the tv but I do know that whenever I vacuum the herp room my leo comes out of his hide to see who's making that damn noise!
