I just got back from Petsmart with a golden red-tailed catfish and it's not doing so hot, it's just staying at the bottom of the tank and moving only when the turtles try to eat it but it's twice their size. Can any body tell me what's wrong with my catfish?I also got a golden mystery snail to clean the tank and for it's babys to feed the two baby RES.

P.S.
Sorry it's not realy about turtles

Yes, I know exactly what's wrong with it... Catfish are boring. It wants to hide. A happy catfish is a catfish you can't see. The turtles are probably scaring it silly.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

If its a catfish, it isnt going to be very active. Most catfish just sit around in the rocks, and wait to be fed.

About your Red-tail catfish, I have had them many a times before. All species of catfish are mainly active at dusk or night. I would really recommend taking it out of your turtle tank, giving it a tank of its own. Also in time, if the catfish feels hungry enough, they will attempt to eat anything they can fit in their mouth shell or not. So on feeding your catfish, do so when you turn the lights off, that way the turtle and fish are not competing for food. Hope all goes well.
