Axolotl growth rate

nygaboon Nov 02, 2003 10:08 AM

For those of you who have axolotl's what has your experience been with growth rate? My new guy is about 3" so far and he's been with me for about 5 months. I keep him in conditions similar to the UI axolotl colony. He's been eating very well, gets regular water changes etc, but his growth rate is slow(or seems to be). My previous axolotls were all adults when I obtained them so I'm curious as to the growth rate of the juveniles.

they take about a year to reach maturity. it's also highly temperature dependent. colder temperatures are better for them, though, so it's worth the wait.
