Normal vs Morph??

LdyPayne Nov 02, 2003 12:19 PM

Been browzing the pall python forum for a few weeks now and have seen many pictures of balls, from normals to various hets and ghosts but find about 90% look like normal ball pythons with the only difference in the dark patterns. The pieds are the only ones that strikingly stand out from all the rest. Maybe it's just my untrained eye that can't distinquish the difference.

This said, I would like all you ball owners to post pictures of your normals and various morphs, listing what they are so I can compare them easily. With the high cost of some of these morphs, I would like to be able to tell the difference between a normal in shed and a pastel LOL. Thanks for your time.

I too am unable to tell morphs (other than piebald and albino). I guess it's because I don't get the opportunity to see any - other than my normal.

I hope some people post some pics.
In the meantime, I find this site interesting:

I don't own any morphs, but 99% of them are blatantly different from normals.

(Also note that an animal that is "het" for something will look like a normal animal.)

Most morphs are definitely something that is very visible. I think Ghosts are sometimes hard to capture their qualities on camera (sometimes not). As far as Pastels go, they are definitely very different than a normal. Also most Ball's darken with age which could make an axanthic look near normal and even make some Pastels look just allright. Here is a pic of my 2003 "Pastel Jungle" female.

Wonder what that would look like?
Just think of all the new morphs we will have in ten years?

Thanks everybody for the wonderful links to all kinds of pictures of the different colour morphs. Certainly an indepth amount of information, certainly alot more than I expected. My untrained eye is now seeing the striking difference between many colour morphs.

I really love that black and white snake...very striking...wouldn't mind having one myself but I doubt I could afford it (want to trade for a 2002 Honda Civic? LOL just kidding )
