Hello, I have an african bull frog, hes about 4inches sv length and i want to switch him from crickets to roaches. I am also looking into getting a crested gecko or 2or3. I was wondering which type of roach would be best for my abf and the crested gecko. Also where can I get roaches, I can only find hissers. Would roaches be better for my animals. I hate cricket, they are noisy and they smell. I dont mind roaches. I anyone have any opions on this let me know. Thanks.

The amount of food your animal(s) will consume is relatively small. The size of food is also small. Size wise, Lobsters would work for you. I worry that you will gete over you head though, since lobsters are such prolific breeders. They may very well be the most prolific of all of the feeders. You may have too many for what you need, and then what will you do with them, sell them? I find that this might be problematic for you.

Hissers are a large species that breeds on the slower end of the spectrum. you can always use the babies, but because they are so slow, you will need a honking colony to get what you need.

I think what you need is a lobster sized roach that doesnt breed quite as fast. I once had a link that gaving info on many different breeds of roaches, and I will try to find that for you. If I do, ill post it.

Later.

Thanks, im gonna check that site out. I do have other animals that would eat the roaches. A short tail possume, cichlids, other fish, plus Im always adding onto my collection.

I think any of the non-climbers would be good for you. To many people get concerned about how large they get. They still are smaller than hissers, but the point is they can be fed off at any size. Any that get to big just join into the breeding colony. Read my comments under on my post below. I talk about the different species I have. I too hate the smell of crickets.

Thanks for the posts. Ive been looking around and thinking about deaths heads, disoids or orange heads. I think I need something a bit bigger than the lobsters. My afican bullfrog is still on the smaller side but he can easily down the biggest cickets I give him. And my possume is a pig too. Any input would be great, thanks for those who posted already.
