0.0.0 is No Unknowns.no males.no females (for you pesimists)
0.100.100 is no unknowns.100 males.100 females (for you optimists)
And
8.1.1 is 8 unknowns(usually juveniles).one male.one female (for the realist)

My understanding is.......

1.2.3 = 1 male, 2 females, 3 unknowns.

I always believed that to be the case, at least here in the UK.

No doubt if I'm wrong I'll be corrected.

Graham,
That is how I understand and utilize it.

male.female.unknown

Ed is probably wrong this time.

I believe Graham and Paul got it right.

As for Shelly, since your sulcalta is still so small,

you should use: 0.0.1 sulcata
1.0.0 betta

Ed, the 5" "female" cherry head I got from you started to chase my big female (undoubtedly female), the small guy does head bobbing, too. It never chased my 6.5" male, though. What shall I do?

whoops.

I agree with Ed. I have always been told that it is unknown.male.female

EJ Nov 03, 2003 09:14 AM

I had a feeling that I could have been mistaken but figured I'd correct it in the evening. I didn't realize how kind everyone would be and correct it for me.
It is as follows
1.0.0 = male
0.1.0 = Female
0.0.1 = unknown
and if it wasn't confusing enough
0.0.1juv = Juvenile of unknown sex

it must be difficult not being able to see the keyboard through all that smoke etc.

So the 100 unknowns were in fact females & the guy who bought the 100 females got males, he'll be pleased (LOL)

How's things these days re the fires etc, everybody safe & well?

You're so kind and thanks for the chuckle.
Well, the lord saw fit to dump winter on us after the humbling experience. It is now rainy and cold (55 - 60F)(thats cold for me and the torts) The smoke has cleared and it is actually quite nice (but cool).
I made out ok.
Thanks.

Yes, odd fall we're having. Last weekend it was 95 , yesterday it was in the 50s. At least it rained, so the fire danger is much less up here. Let's hope we don't get an earthquake now.

Glad to hear things are settling down.

Some people got this right, others are mistaken.

It is: Male.Female.Juvenile too young to tell or adult with gender unknown. In most cases, the last number will be a juvenile.

darth_viper Nov 03, 2003 09:13 AM

Thats what me and most of my dealers think.

lunamoon Nov 03, 2003 11:01 PM

male. female. gender unknown.

This is the way I've always been told to list my the genders of my turtles and torts

1.0.0 Russian
1.0.0 Eastern Boxie
0.1.0 RES
2.0.0 RES
