Compact flourescent lighting

I have a 55 gallon RETF tank and am considering replacing my standard reptiglo 2.0 flourescent bulbs with compact flourscent bulbs to help with my plant growth. Anyone have any suggestions or comments on this idea? Is it beneficial or a waste of money? Thanks in advance for the advise.
