Advice about adopting a BP

spranks Nov 02, 2003 06:06 PM

I decided a couple of weeks ago that I finally am ready to get the snake that I always wanted. I've been doing my hw and getting my setup together ever since.

Today I just found out that a friend of mine knows somebody who is looking to get rid of a BP(2 actually, but I'd only take 1). Should I just take that one, or should I go to a breeder and get a young one? What should I look for in adopting a snake? I might check it out this week, but if it's not what I want, then I'm not going to take it. Sixty to Eighty bucks is a small price to pay when I'm getting what I really want.

On behalf of your future snake, and all other captive snakes, thank you for doing your homework BEFORE you get the snake! Good for you. Too many people don't.

You answered your own question there. If it's what you want-get it. If not, then, yes, it's worth the $$ to get what you want!

Look for a healthy snake. One that doesn't look skinny. One that you can coftobly handle.

One question that I always ask when aquiring any critter is "Why are you getting rid of it?" You may not get a straight answer, but you may get an idea.

Best of luck! I hope that you find your perfect match!
