how much should I feed my male american bullfrog?

JadeFox Nov 02, 2003 09:57 PM

Currently I fed him 6-10 crickets a day...everyday. He will scarf up superworms but I cut off their heads first as a precaution; however it's rare I give him any superworms because they are high in fat.

They are gutloaded and dusted of course.

Too much? Too little?

He's very charming and knows how to give me a sweet innocent baby-face look and I say ahhhhh how cute! So I throw in crickets everyday. And he won't stop looking at me like that until I feed him. So I throw in a handful a day.
because he's sooo cute.

That sounds good. I would also try feeding nightcrawlers; my bullfrog would scarf those things right up.

I currently have a colony of exotic cockroaches, Madagascar and hissing, that I use to feed bullfrogs.

Also, Mazuri makes an excellent gelatin diet that I cut up into squares and hand feed them that probably has a lot of nutrients that you would not be able to get them otherwise. This is great stuff, I have used it to feed everything from alligators, to even spotted salamanders!

Is this the 5MEO? Would you recommend this for a leopard frog as well?
Thanks

That's the number. As long as it is used to being hand fed, it should take it.

I never knew about this food. I am going to look into getting ahold of some. I think it would be great for my salamanders and horned frogs, especially in the winter when live crickets are really hard to come by out ehre in the sticks. Thanks!

Thanks and thanks for the link, I have koi, goldfish (garden ponds) and I may find some of the other products useful as well.
