white silly string?

CRToon83 Nov 03, 2003 02:32 AM

my girlfriend has 2 RES youngins, i spent the night at her house about 2 weeks ago and in the morning I noticed a short white string sticking out of one of the turtles' tail. I picked up the turtle nad attempted to pull it off...but what happened is i ended up pulling about 4 feet of this out of the turtle. What is this? Nobody seems to know. I have a softshell at my house and I noticed one afternoon there was about the same amount in the bottom of my turtles' tank. Any ideas will help. Thanks. -Chris

If it's coming out of the turtle's anal opening then I'd say it has a bad case of worms. Get both turtles to a qualified turtle vet for a fecal exam. Four feet? That's really long especially for small turtles but roundworms and tapeworms can get pretty long.
