Gravid Leopard Lizard: Need Info PLEASE HELP

IBrakeForLizards May 30, 2003 08:38 AM

I unknowingly bought a gravid leopard Lizard. At first, I did not know for sure if she was gravid or if she was just showing her breeding colors. There arent many informative sites out there on these pretty lizards. But now I am sur e. She has big oval lumps on her sides. She is starting to just ravish her food! She even went from small crickets to med crix.I have a nesting box in her cage, with moist, but not wet, vermiculite, and its right under the heat lamp so its nice and warm.I rewet it every other day or so.I have an incubator set up, its a 2 1/2 gallon glass tank with glass lid, and a heating mat stuck to the side.I am planning on setting the nest box(a plastic gladware container) up on small building blocks inside it. I want to know if this setup is good, or if I need to try something else. I read old posts about these lizards, some helpful, some not. Please, if anyone has any information to give me, on this or on the lizards them selves PLEEEEASE reply or email me at esj@dmsas.com. Thanks!!!

There are a couple of well written caresheets at the Colorado Herpetological Society website.

Captive Bred Leopard Lizards
The Captive Care of Leopard Lizards

I've provided a link to the index page below.
Goodluck.
