The Dueling dragon

ecb Nov 03, 2003 11:20 AM

Erowen, last night, JUMPED on her sleeping stick, with full colors and full dewlap, and opened mouth and just GLARED out her side panel at my Elipse Machine
She looked angry at someting, and that was the only thing I could see (the inside is kinda dirty from fog condensation, so I M pretty sure she could not even see her own reflection)
She CHOWED down on a few Wax worms (I have not been able to get any nightcrawlers lately (may have to order 250 *YIKES*) she does not go after the little crickets i got for the babies, nor does she go after the little Superworms (bit they are growing)
It was so funny to imagine a fight between her and my Poor out of shape Elipse Maching (it gets NO exercise anymore)

It would be nice to know what they are processing sometimes.

I think you said you would wait for spring to start a vermaculture bin but think that this might be a great option with nightcrawlers hard to get locally in the winter months. Have you ever tried to find the space to keep 250 nightcrawlers cool enough to keep them alive? And worse yet, have you ever smelled 250 dead nightcrawlers? It's enough to turn one's stomach! I bought a flat last fall and tried to keep it in an ice chest inside another cooler with ice. As you can tell from my questions, they didn't make it!

I have found a place in the past that would sell small enough quantities of leaf or trout worms. I never remember the name of the place but if they are still in business you can find them by using an ebay search for worms. These worms are a little smaller than the canadian crawlers, more like the ones that come out of the ground when it rains. I have never ordered anything but europeans and reds from Kazarie and am not sure what else they have.

Hope you find a source and a means to keep the worms until all are eaten.

I have redworms in a Vermicomposter, but I want them to start growing before i start harvesting them
I have found a place that I can buy between 100-200, and I will be keeping them in the back bathroom (nearly unheated) and where I have the WormBin (temps are in the 60s) so I will have good worms soon, but these redworms I have in the wormbin are SMALL, will have to see if they plump up
Wish I had had a Camera for her Profiling, she also allowed herself to fall upside down under her sleeping branch (like a Sloth) and just hung there for a while, twisting her head, looking around at the crazy upside down world
