BRB baby ate 10 live pinkies what should I do?

Uncloudy Nov 03, 2003 03:15 PM

On Nov. 1 I feed my baby Brazilian Rainbow Boa 5 live pinkies then on Nov. 2 she ate 5 more live pinkies. Today I heard this could kill my boa and now I'm worried what should I do to remedy this problem?
I am new to snake husbandry also and this won't happen again but what can I do that it has happened to help my boa digest these pinkies and not get sick or die?

There is nothing you can do now except for keeping the boa at the correct temps to aid digestion. Also do not handle it for about a week to avoid stressing it. If it regurgitates give it a couple weeks to bounce back before feeding a very small meal, like one pinky. Gradually increase the meal size until the meal is about as big around as the midbody of the boa. Always make sure it has fresh water also because after regurgitating boas are dehydrated. Once you get the boa back on track feed meals of appropriate size.

Pinkies digest much easier than adult mice and
boas can handle surprisingly large meals. I doubt it regurges if the proper temps are kept but if it does please follow my advice in my previous post.
Good luck

Thank you for the re-assurance Mr. Douglas, I have been extremely worried about Bella my female BRB. I hope to God she makes it, I am native american and snakes are my spiritual guides and she has a special place in my world. Peace, Love, and Happiness to you, brother!
