Mites look like flecks of pepper. Pepper that MOVES. Chances are, if you've got one mite, you've got a THOUSAND. I have had great success following the protocol outlined by Pro Exotics, that utilizes Black Knight spray. I've gotten hit by mites twice (both times by handling other peoples' snakes and then forgetting to wash before I came home - yet another Stupid Handler Trick!). Black Knight has served me well.

The FAQ says that you have to overreact to a mite infestation. I agree. Mites left unchecked can kill a snake; often, mites are not noticed until it's too late.

It's important to remember to do the once-a-week-for-three-weeks treatment. It's just like treating fleas - you have to get the adult mites so that you don't get any new mite eggs, and then you have to get all the mites that have hatched before they're old enough to BREED.

Read the FAQ, read everything you can find about "reptile mites", and make an educated decision. My experience is just that - MY experience. Your mileage may vary. I recommended this treatment to a local pet store when I found that all of their snake cages had jacuzzis! (Every water bowl was crammed with snakes trying to get rid of their mites!) They were able to get rid of their infestation using Black Knight as well.

Disclaimer: I am not an employee of Pro Exotics, nor do I receive any compensation for my recommendation. I'm a happy mite-free customer.
