Does anyone know if Dieffenbachia is okay to use in chameleon enclosyres? this is one of my favourite plants, and i've read before that they are "dangerous" to an extent, but if you rad the link that taralyn posted, it says that ficus benjamina is not safe. So i am not sure what to make of it. Do anyone know if Dieffenbachia is okay to use?

We would never use dieffenbachia..... they are toxic to dogs and cats and birds -- so don't subject your cham to them either.

Ficus can cause eye irritations due to the caustic sap - when pruning, let the plant sit for a couple of days to "scar over" the cut places before using it again. If you have large, heavy chams - they can break the thin branches of ficus - this is where the hazard usually is.

There are plenty of sturdy, safe plants. And the dieffenbachia is on OUR "bad" list of plants.

Hope this helps,
