Housing question

wingl Nov 03, 2003 10:06 PM

I never read that it was a problem, but I want to put my baby Pueblan Milk in the same tank as my Ribbon snake. I've housed this particular ribbon with a corn and a rat snake at different times with no problems. I don't have any experience with milks. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

A lot of milks are snake eaters. Not sure about your type though.

First of all, have you heard of pathogens and parasites? Moving a snake between cages with different housemates is REALLY, REALLY risky. I would not put two snakes in the same cage, much less put one in a cage with another snake and then give it another cage mate after that. Good way to lose your whole collection. Another thing...EVERY snake has the ability to eat another snake. Milks will eat other snakes, garters and ribbons will eat other snakes, and cannibalism is documented in corns and rats as well. Honestly you probably would not read anything about it because it is generally assumed you would not house a milk with a Thamnophis. I mean, they aren't even from the same part of the world. I think you need to go back and read up on basic care and concerns. Andy
