Reverse Stripe Genetics?

aliceinwl Nov 03, 2003 10:21 PM

I was wondering what the genetics of a reverse stripe are. Are they just a type of jungle? I bred back one of my 8 yr old normal male's daughters (daughter was normal, and her grandmother is a 10+ yr old normal female from a local petstore) to him and produced a reverse stripe (big surprise!).

What kind of male would I need to produce more (I definately don't want to breed her back to her father / grandfather)? What would happen if I bred her to a jungle? to a stripe? (I've bred her to my normal Tremper, and, no surprise, got more normals).

Bellow is a pic of her, she had a broken neckband and a zig zag type pattern on her tail when she hatched; the tip has since regrown.

Thanks,
Alice

Stripes are part of the jungle morph. They originated from the jungle morph.

If memory serves me correctly, crossing a stripe with a jungle should yeild about 50/50 jungle or stripe offspring. A stripe with a stripe is almost always stripe offspring, but reverse stripes are the rarest.

Best bet would be to buy a true jungle (not abberant) or stripe and breed them instead. You can also try crossing the father with a jungle or stripe female and see what you get.

If I'm wrong, hopefully someone can correct me ^_^;
