Im the happy owner of 4 Tylotriton, 3 Verrucosus and 1 Shanjing. I raise all of them together in a cage with soil and a large bowl of water.I keep the soil a little bit wet and i give them mealworms and superworms to eat.
The first time i gave them superworms to eat i was surprised how fast and easily my biggest verrucosus grabbed and ate 2 superworms. But the smaller ones although looked very interested didnt eat the superworms.Perhaps found them too big and squirmy?Next day i found 4 superworms drowned inside the bowl of water.I didnt take them out and when i checked again they had disappeared and all my 4 salamanders had a huge and full belly. The other day the same thing happened! And the next day too! My salamanders are getting fat and fat and everyday i find 3 or 4 superworms drowned inside the water bowl that disappear at the end of the day.
I wonder whether my babies are taking the superworms into the water to drown them in purpose (like crocodiles do) to be able to eat them little by little more easily! What do you think?
