I have "bleached" several Red Oak hollow logs and branches with a 1 part bleach per 9 parts water mixture. It is best to leave the log in over night. The outcome is a nice sturdy log that feels lighter than before. The wood comes out resembling an Albino Burm of sorts; yellows, creams, and whites; very similar in color to "spalted maple".
After soaking in the solution overnight, rinse the wood off thoroughly and let air dry for a couple of days. It will need to vent for a few days more when introduced to the higher/dryer temps of an enclosure. After about a week, they are good to go.
I used this very technique to furnish my Croc Monitor Enclosure.
Hope it helps,
Scott
