Heres my old girl, today is checkers day, I have to move the monitors out of their summer quarters and into their winter quarters. Good thing its cold out, near freezing last night.
She was out basking when I caught her.
Now for the whine part. As you know, I rarely post here with anything useful. There are many reasons for that. The first is, most here are beginers, and possibly as such, do not understand a few basic tenents about keeping animals. The first is, you do not have to encorperate anything you read. And second, if you ask someone what "they" do or "their" opinion, you really should expect to read their "methods and opinions" You should not expect for them to offer others "methods and opinions". Unless, the person you ask, has no methods and opinions of their own.
I have always understood that each person has the right to do and think and do what they like. Which in reality means, you are free to, like, not like, use or not use, anything you read.
This has always been true. But does not work here because so many here are not here to learn or share monitor experience, they are here for other reasons. What those reasons are, is not for me to say, you would have to ask them.
Your task as keepers is to pick the right method for you. You know, that old decision making thing I talk about. Thats the key.
May I add, today, successfully keeping and breeding monitors, thru many generations, is no longer theory or concepts, its a hard reality. Whether you like the methods or the people doing it, has nothing to do with the reality. Its history and nothing you can do will change that.
Those who want to fight this reality should really ask themselves why? Those you fight the methods, should also ask themselves why? Remember, no one ever said any of these methods are the best, they are simply the methods used.
You must remember, in order for you to come up with a better method/s, you must show results that surpass the results of the exsisting methods, not show theories or concepts. Again remember, with the keeping of living changing, aging animals, results are daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, etc. These results are tangible and measurable. Beginers need to start with the first, then move to the next. Well, maybe not just beginers, all of us.
Theories and concepts, are absolutely wonderful. But you must understand, by definition, they are theories and concepts. Which means they are unproven. Once they are proven, they are methods. Good luck and have a good day. F
