a pic of two old farts and a whine

FR Nov 04, 2003 12:12 PM

Heres my old girl, today is checkers day, I have to move the monitors out of their summer quarters and into their winter quarters. Good thing its cold out, near freezing last night.

She was out basking when I caught her.

Now for the whine part. As you know, I rarely post here with anything useful. There are many reasons for that. The first is, most here are beginers, and possibly as such, do not understand a few basic tenents about keeping animals. The first is, you do not have to encorperate anything you read. And second, if you ask someone what "they" do or "their" opinion, you really should expect to read their "methods and opinions" You should not expect for them to offer others "methods and opinions". Unless, the person you ask, has no methods and opinions of their own.

I have always understood that each person has the right to do and think and do what they like. Which in reality means, you are free to, like, not like, use or not use, anything you read.

This has always been true. But does not work here because so many here are not here to learn or share monitor experience, they are here for other reasons. What those reasons are, is not for me to say, you would have to ask them.

Your task as keepers is to pick the right method for you. You know, that old decision making thing I talk about. Thats the key.

May I add, today, successfully keeping and breeding monitors, thru many generations, is no longer theory or concepts, its a hard reality. Whether you like the methods or the people doing it, has nothing to do with the reality. Its history and nothing you can do will change that.

Those who want to fight this reality should really ask themselves why? Those you fight the methods, should also ask themselves why? Remember, no one ever said any of these methods are the best, they are simply the methods used.

You must remember, in order for you to come up with a better method/s, you must show results that surpass the results of the exsisting methods, not show theories or concepts. Again remember, with the keeping of living changing, aging animals, results are daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, etc. These results are tangible and measurable. Beginers need to start with the first, then move to the next. Well, maybe not just beginers, all of us.

Theories and concepts, are absolutely wonderful. But you must understand, by definition, they are theories and concepts. Which means they are unproven. Once they are proven, they are methods. Good luck and have a good day. F

Beutiful pic, and a nice message also. sort of a reality check of sorts.

I have seen a monitor that looks like that, however through a brainfart, I have forgotten the name. This is not the first time you have posted this breed i think. That may be where I have seen it.

So my question is, what is the name of that beautiful creature.

but i didnt want to come out and sound like a dolt. That little episode of me trying to sex monitors you posted a while back was such a debachel that I didn't want to swing and miss again.

I agree with flyingnile in that your posts are always helpful. As long as you don't stop posting, it(this forum) will still be worth visiting every now and again.

I really like reading the other site, and hope to one day earn the right to get into a conversation over there. Much more information and a lot less crap.

Have a good day, and keep the pics/information coming.

Theres nothing wrong with swinging and missing. You get three strikes, three outs and nine innings. Then you have a whole season of games. You get all that because a swing and a miss is not that important.

Advice would be, don't be afraid to swing, hahahahahahahahaha.

You can discuss anything you like(within the topics) on V.net, But make sure if you have something outlandish, you can back it up. Thanks F

You always have the down to earth comments. Out of all the users here your comments are usually the ones I trust. Don't stop typing! It's good educational entertainment! p.s. Where in god's name did you get that Perenties !?!?

FR Nov 04, 2003 01:23 PM

I believe it was the early to mid ninties, hahahahahaha pea poor memory. I traded a pair of womas I hatched for it at the San Diego show(irrba or something like that)

At the time there were several floating around and I was offered several males, but because I did not know of any females, I declined. Then I was offered this female, so I got it, but sadly ever since, no males have become availible an no one wanted to put a male on breeding loan.

I am often asked if I am going to get a male, I find that question very odd. I cannot find a male. One has to be here. So no, I am no longer interested in buying a male. but if someone wanted to put a male on breeding loan, I would of course try to breed them.

And thanks, F

I love the colors and patterns on a perentie.

ra_tzu Nov 04, 2003 09:15 PM

I agree, the colors and patterns are awesome. They stand out to us, but in the wild it's their camouflage.

Is that the infamouse three legged parantie?

Looks like it at least has all its front legs.

I'm fairly certain I've seen pics where the back legs are shown too.

What gives Frank?

Are you going to tell me that the rumors are *gasp* rumors?

FR Nov 05, 2003 12:43 AM

We (team of specialist) used stem cells from the unbilica of an ackie embryo. We(the team of specialist) shaped the stem cells into a tiny miniture leg. Then after all these years, it has grown to full size. I believe this is a herp first, that is unless you consider salamanders and frogs, herps.

Well, its either that or a stupid rumor, from Acme rumor co. inc. F
