Hi all,

I just got an eastern collared lizard... and I think he is a male... but I see that lots of you send your lizards into brumation... do you have to? I just got mine and I don't want him to hibernate... I don't have any interest in mating him either... ya ya... poor guy... but anyhoo... do you have to do this??

in the future, after you 2 get to know each other, :0) it is good for them, at some point to get a rest, as they do this in nature !
Maybe try it next fall, because, I garentee you, remember my words,

If he slows down on his own accord, just let him. Reduce lighting and heat for a couple weeks, them warm it back up. Sometimes (Often) they will do this naturally even without any change in conditions...it's best not to try to force them from doing it. Doing so could lead them to burn up too many calories without taking too much back in.
