Can someone clear up the confusion on daily Cricket quantity for baby's

tigermist Nov 04, 2003 12:40 PM

I decided to look for info on the web about how many crix my baby of 5 weeks should be eating per day... And it's pretty conflicting. Help ?

One site had a post mentioning some bearded babies eating 30 crickets per day.Another Site has several posts of people's beardies eating between 6-7 per day.

WHAT IS NORMAL ??

He is averaging 6-10 per day .. But I have seen him eat almost 10 in one sitting a few times.. When he's done you know it.. He climbs the walls

Note:I do feed him in a separate plastic tank so that he has no problem catching them.. Can this stress him out ??

Note: His environment is always in the correct temp zones as well (105-110 max and a 75-80F cool spot)using a digital thermometer with memory..

Note: He has a brand new ZooMed powersun 160w w/UVB-UVA

Also Noted: I do see him becoming more and more friendly/docile with every feeding/handling over the last week. And I'm hoping it won't be long before he eats out of my hand.

There is no cut and dried answer except...
Feed correct sized crickets, no larger then the space between the dragons eyes.
Offer crickets 2-3x a day. As many as they will eat in 10-15 minutes.

Upwards of 30-50 a day isn't unheard of.
