Hi everyone,
Well, the MSPCA hasn't called me back yet, but I returned to the store last night. They had changed the water bowl (put a smaller one in), put in a small bowl with greens, and I only saw a couple of dead crickets. The temp was still at 80F and he was still on crushed walnut. So, I called over the manager and explained to her...very politely! First thing she does is shake her head and tell me "We've had it for 4 months now and it's not going to die." So I explain about the crushed walnut substrate, and she wouldn't listen. She kept rambling on about how its "just a holding tank, not permanent" and how "that's just your opinion about the substrate, not fact" and that "we have people go online and research the lizards before getting them, we dont just throw them in a cage." Well after standing there while she belittled me I tried again to tell her that every GOOD caresheet online says "NEVER use crushed walnut" and how many uros have died. "They must have been small" she said...even though they have baby bearded dragons on the same substrate (one had pieces on his mouth). She also said that alot of people come in the store and tell them that they are doing this or that wrong, but they are just a petstore, they take care of their animals and it's just those people's opinions on how they like to take care of their animals. So, basically she didn't listen to me. I am going to call back on wednesday and talk to the "reptile specialist" and if she doesn't listen to me, I'll go down and start taking pictures. That's not illegal is it? Just thought I'd let you guys know that I am trying, but it's not working too well.
