Hi there,

In my opinion, ackies make the best captives of all monitors. Kimberlies are great as well, all of the individuals that I have encountered have been pleasantly tempered and not skittish like the Freckleds or Blackheads. They are very easy to care for as well, but with a price tag of 750 bucks, I would recommend that you try your hand at some least expensive monitors first, like ackies or storrs. However, you really can't beat the colors and patterns on the kimberly's, well, except for maybe the pilbaras, but I am a bigger fan of the kimberlies. Hope this helps,

bob

I do not think Kimberly Rock Monitors are good starter monitors.

HOWEVER....

It is not my place to impose limits on what other people should or should not try.

Know this:

They die easy.

If you do choose to work with them, please do lots and lots of research first.

im not a newb to herps i know the importance of reasearch, but i cant find care sheets on kimberlies, ive looked and found other dwarfs but not kims. the question is how do u know they die easuily did u keep them before? why do they die easily?
is it not much is know about their captive habbits, or is it theyre really sensitive? or what?

The fact that there is not a lot of good information doesn't help.

I keep kimberlies currently, and have some eggs cooking, but they are very difficult to understand...at least they were for me, and I they still throw me for a loop sometimes.

They seem to be a very delicate species, and will drop dead without an apperent explanation (I havn't discovered it yet anyways).

Having previous herp experience is a plus of coarse. But that doesn't neccesarrily make you ready for them. Remember, each animal is an individual, and you really have to cater to thier individual needs.

I'd also like to add that caresheets are overall a terrible recource, and I hardly consider it research. I would concntrate more on thier natural habbitat, and work from there. Let the animals tell you what you want, and hope your bright enough to figure out what they are telling you. I'm not always bright enough to do that.

They are found in the Kimberly region.

Thus the name.
