Hi, i just recenlty got a baby redtail boa at a reptile show on sunday. it's a male and he's about 18 inches long. I think he might have IBD. but i'm not sure. At the show when i help him he semmed alert and nervous, and he had a strong grip with his tail. Then when i got him home i put him in the tank, and he tried to bite me and fell out of the container and into the cage on his back. the fall was only and inch from the ground. while he was on his back half of him went under this little long that was really small, and it took him sometime to get back to normal. so i lifted up the log and he turned himself over to normal. and he's been hiding on the warm side of the cage under his rock since sunday. the cage is about 80 -85. so today, tuseday i fed him. he ate with no problem, but when looked at him and had the mouse coiled up and was kind of rolling around with it. like he couldn't really move or didn't know how to let the mouse go so he can move. then it looked like he was eating the mouse form the side not the back or front. so i moved the mouse and he didn't budge, then i moved it again and he became alert. then i left him alone and he ate the mouse. sorry that this is long. my question is, can he maybe have IBD because of his movements? he's alert all the time, when i pick him his rock and starts looking around and coming up to my fingers. thank you so much.

ps.
why is he always on the warm side of the tank? the tank is 80-85, with a basking spot of 90-95.

Thanks.

Nah, right now he's just a spaz. If you have any snakes you should still quarantine though.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

I dont think you have anything to worrie about. Sometimes they will stay in the warm spot for a few days, this is normal but I would pay close attention to him for the next few weeks just in case. When I buy a snake I always take it to a vet regardless of where I bought it from. Good luck

Yah this behavior sounds totally normal. Just keep an eye on him and don't handle him too much.
