for people with dragons over the age of two (or adult statis).. i would like to know what your feeding schedules are like..

for example: my water dragons ...spook,griffin,kyla,frog,suz

daily greens (for the ones who will take them)
every two days a fuzzie or one of the bugs listed below
and on special days (or the days the i run out of mice) they get a range of supers, nightcrawlers, and hornworms.
and d3 3x a week...multivitamin on sat.

thats all i am looking for...just for personal knowledge i would like to know what everyone is feeding these days..if it is a bigger % of whole prey than years past or if it is a varied diet.. and your sucess rate

thanks in advance

The good news is, my adults DO NOT eat crickets! My adults get hopper mice twice a week. Once a week I throw Superworms in their food bowl. The day after they are all gone, I put a dozen night crawlers in their food bowl. And every other day or so I hand feed them adult roaches. If I had to break it down percentage wise I would say:

Super worms 20%
Night crawlers 20%
Roaches 30%
Mice 30%

I only vitamin/calcium supplement the worms. I've actually been toying with the idea of not feeding them anything 2-3 times a week instead 1-2 times.

Hope this helps,
Paul

that is exactly what i was looking for.. i myself have been toying with the idea of feeding less but i figure if they are taking the mice and the bugs and they aren't over wieght why not keep giving it to them.. i mean i have other lizards to feed and the water dragons eat such a small percentage compared to the beardies..i also have all my adults off of crickets.. save for suz..but thats only because he can't eat mice..since he's a runt.... and i also am glad to see that you feed nightcrawlers as often as i do.. just a good reassurance.. i haven't really paid attention for a couple of years and wanted to see if anything has changed.

how are they liking the roaches?? and what kind are you feeding..hissers or lobster?

thanks again
Alissa

I personally think roaches are the best thing since, well, since Bert brought Aussies to the states! My dragons, (both beardies and water) just love them. I actually breed both orange head and deadhead roaches. Niether species can climb sides so containing them, even in food dishes is simple. They get to be a decent size so it doesn't take that many to make a good meal, and they reproduce much much quicker than hissers, although not as quick as lobsters. I started with 3 dozen each, let them alone for 3 months, and now I have enough to keep feeding and still maintain enough to breed. Another great thing is that any time I have all different sizes so I also feed them to my growing beardies. As you can tell, I am a HUGE fan of roaches!
