Hi there I have just bought a breeding proven pair of these for a song!!!! I have kept kings before but are mountains any different apart from temps? I am just curious as there are very few care sheets on them that I can find!!!

Also could you tell me what type they are eg. I,II or III I think they are I though!!

Hi there,
The knobs are the most hardy of the mtn.king psecies in my opnion. They will do fine at temps from 78-80, thats what I keep all my snakes at, including all my mtn.kings. When hibernating them, I would shoot for atleast 60, I try to keep all my mtn.kings at 50 degrees for 4 months, but it doesnt always work, I think the knobs have can a little higher temp,like 60 and still breed fine. I know guys who keep pyro pyro at 60 and reproduce them fine, but I have better results when they are kept down longer and cooler. Hope this helps.

good lookin' snake! Those "type I, II, III" names were just made up by a dealer, I think Professional Breeders...just different grouping s based on how low the saddles go, how much side blotching and how much black... You can find their website on the breeders' listings on Kingsnake.com & see which one yours comes closest to...

thanks the other is still in shed will post a pic when finished!! I have been told that they can be little feeders, well that one has had 2 large mice and that was after a 200 mile journey to get em!
