Urojade May 30, 2003 12:40 PM

she's a little odd, maybe its normal i dunno, she just doest walk around ,i turned her light on a 9 ( an boy that stupid power sun did not want to turn on) and i picked her up to look at her toe thats bothering me, but anyway i put her down in the center of the tank (25gl fish tank) and came back at 11 to feed her and she was in the same exact place so i picked her up and put her on her basking rock, is she just getting used to it, is it normal for her to do that?

and last night she slept standing on her hindlegs leaning up against the inside corner of the entrance to her hide, that was cute

and the toe that was bothering me i only just noticed last night its the back toe on her left hindleg it nail is pointing up and right behinf the nail on the toe it looks like she was nipped and let go or jammed in something of mybe a bit of shed strangled it? it looks dead

Sounds like shes just adjusting to her new environment. I just got a beardie also and it was doing the same kind of behavior. Now its better. Just give it time and make sure the basking temperature is 90-110F somewhere around there. They become active after sitting in the light for a while.

Hi
a powersun in a 25 gallon does it not get to hot ?
am just curoius
you have a tempreader with a extra porbe to measure the baskingspot wel ?
those indoor outdoor type digtal with a extra probe cost not so much as the name made you think
think round the 10-15$ you can find them.
if a beardie is at his new owner it can take 1-2 weeks before he is settle down .
every thing that move and looks strange to him can be a predator ,you maybe looking like a giant to to him
i would leave him alone for a week and not pick him up to ofthend .

Is your cool end around 80? Your beardie may be dehydrated if the tank is too warm. With a 110 degree basking temp in a 25 gallon tank, you may not be getting the heat gradient you need.

A spot bulb will get too hot but the flood can be used in a 20gl. at one end. I too thought it would be too hot but I checked it out for my self.

We also use a 100 watt flood in a 20 Gal and a 25 Gal and have no problem, we hav used them for 2 years. We use 160 Watts in the 60 and 65 gal.

With them varying 12 inches to 18 inches from the basking area, the beardies are getting good VU output and heat, there is one that to keep the temps up that we have to also use an addition household blub, its funny as the dragons prefer to sit under the $1 blub, but since the UV flood radiates out in a cone shape they are still getting a good output of UVB
