Posting about Petco Bearded Dragon Care Sheets from a couple days ago

velcro Nov 05, 2003 09:56 AM

I thought that I would let everyone know that i emailed this on the 29th.

[color=green}I just read your care sheets for Bearded Dragons and it made me physically sick. Are you purposely trying to kill these little creatures? I own a beardie and wouldn't think of giving him mealworms now, let alone when he was a baby. They shell is too hard and can cause serious, if not fatal damage to a dragon. They shouldn't have large crickets either. Nothing bigger than the space between their eyes.

Also, you never mist their tank! You take them out and mist them. How many deserts do you see with constant humidity? I bathe ours once a day to maintain hydration.

I know that the 24hour provision of mealworms will hurt your profit in the long run. When a baby dies, you can lose upwards of sometimes up to $80....you would think that would worry you....

Providing the babies dozens of crickets a couple times a day, making sure that you use the d3 calcium dust at least 3~4 times weekly will keep those little guys alive.

You consider yourselves the best place to buy pets?

And this is what I got back from them.............

They are sending the same form letter to everyone, but that's fine. The point is to draw attention to this problem.

Have you ever thought about reporting this kind of stuff to the BBB. If you don't see any changes you may be able to. The reason I say MAY is becuase I'm not sure if you can file a report becuase of something like this, but you can give it a try. BBB reports tend to be taken more seriously by the company becuase they are NOT anonymous. The BBB will ask you what the problem is, what you have tried to do about it (ie contacted the company but still no resoloution) and you'd like done about it. Usually you'll hear back from the company within the next few days to few weeks. It might be worth a try. Go to www.bbb.org and go from there.
