searching behavior

SittonJ Nov 05, 2003 01:13 PM

My new thayeri - that hasn't eaten for a month(because of the weather?)is still doing that searching behavior around the cage. She never stops it seems. She is constantly running (well slithering really) around her cage sniffing at the breathing holes and trying to find a way out. Is she just super stressed? How can I get her to calm down? I've heard that some snakes never stop this behavior - is this true?

Im not very experienced but from what i learned it can be the following things. Like she isnt happy with the way the terrarium is set up (a hiding spot?) or maybe the temperature or humidity for that snake aint right. She might be just looking for a cooler or warmer spot.

I have a black desert king - and she does the same thing. Not all the time, but quite often. I think it's just because she is an inquisitive, energetic snake. I'm guessing that as she gets older she'll calm down.
