2nd day of pogo's treatment....some more questions to ask!!!!

pogo_the_dragon Nov 05, 2003 04:36 PM

He seems okay so far...He's still eating a few crix. Will his appetite increase once the coccidia is gone? Also ChristyJ mentioned to increase the gut flora and I do have acidophiliz. Do I administer this at the same time I am giving him the meds or after the medication is done? Also I am using paper towels and cleaning everything he touches daily. I can't give the meds till after work as the morning is way to early to try to get a stubborn dragon to take meds. Um, also I am using peroxide followed by white vinegar to clean the inside of the tank. Is this solution good enough to kill the bacteria? Okay that's it for now..I appreciate all your advice!!!

I don't see a reason that you couldn't give the acidolophus during treatment and after.
BTW..Make sure when you are using the vinegar/peroxide, you spray with one, then the other so they are mixed (but don't mix them in the same bottle). It's the chemical reaction of one contacting the other that works as a disinfectant. I rinse and wipe again with water to get rid of the smell faster.

As being a person who takes acidolophus personally, it is usually recommended to take it at least two hours after the meds. Some of the meds will kill the good bacteria as well as the bad. I'm not sure if the sulfur will but I think it may be a good idea to wait the two hours. MHO
