Ok, here goes nothing. I had one of my customers come to me last night that is also a reptile lover. She informed me that a buddy of her just bought a red tailed boa. No idea what the sex is and he states it is between 3-5 feet long and has been handled alot in the last 3 weeks. Here is the kicker he bought this snake 3 weeks ago and his wife is due to have a baby in 2-3 weeks and she does not want that "thing" in her house when the baby arrives. My girlfriend can't keep him right now because she is maxed on herps now and hubby will throw a "stomping fit" if she brings yet another ine home! LOL I owned a ball python about 10 years ago but omg it has been years since I have had to deal with a snake. So I posted in boa forum but they seem to have so information sharing problems unless you have "cool" morphs and such to post about. So here I am back in here trying to get some help so I can take this guy until I can get him a home or possibly convince hubby that yes we really want him! My hubby is not thrilled about snakes but I think he will be okay once we get him here. I have yet to see the snake or handle him and I am going to get a really good deal on him tank, supplies, snake and everything else for 125.00 so all that being said anyone here have any knowlegde they can share ?!?!?!?!? Thanks in advance you guys are the best! I am glad that is forum does what it was intended to do which is share info and the love of herps!

Red Tails are great snakes. Try to get him/her eating pre killed mice/rats as soon as possible as I have seen snakes get bit numerous times. With my experience this also makes for a friendlier snake. Do as much research as possible. I'm sure your husband will fall in love with the BOA very quickly. there one of my favorites.

Thank you all for your help! As for the boa my girlfriend is going to keep him for now. I saw him the the other day and he is to big for me to keep right now! But he is very sweet so I will take him soon. We live in an apartment for the time being BUT we just got pre approved for a house and are looking to find one that has a basement we can make into a full reptile room! I am ssssssssoooooo excited!!!! So once we get a house and everything set up he will come home to us.

As for the feeding for pre killed mice, that much I do know I learned about that with my ball python, she was bit by a white mouse and refused to eat them and went on a hunger stike for awhile. The vet had suggested back then to try feeding her that way and it worked I was so relieved!
