There are two ways to sex snakes: Popping and probing. Popping is more of an art form in my opinion and not easy to do. You would need someone experience with this to show you. The most commonly used method and less traumatic is probing. Again, this is best done by or demonstrated by someone with experience. You place an appropriate size stainless steel probe in the vent towards the edges going towards the tail. The distance the probe goes depending on species, determines the sex. Males (7-9) go deeper than females (2-4). The range of numbers is the number of scales the probe passes in distance.
Probe both sides as there can be differences. I like to use surgical steel and use alchohol to clean it before and after probing an KY gel to minimize the trauma of inserting the probe. Don't use a paperclip please. Though it is small enough for young snakes, it has sharp edges.

thanks for the link!
is that how you learned?
they have a lot of interesting things on there sight. Especially the news page. You should put a sexing page on your sight.
I might do it when I redesign my site.
Learned a lot of good professional information from their tapes.
Well worth it. I should have bought it when it first came out. All should have them as part of their husbandry library. Watch out who probes your animals. You can so easily injure them. Be careful!
