new cage - HUGE

lele Nov 05, 2003 05:46 PM

Luna has made it very clear to me that she needs more space...I think the fact that i have been spoiling her and taking her out once or twice a day has something to do with it. As a matter of fact when I came in this evening to feed her she ran onto my arm and all over me!!

Well, I have always been an extremist and I went for the biggest!cage: 4x2x2. I finally put it togehter today and the freaking thing is huge! She's going to think she is back in Yemen! LOL!!! it is still empty so it looks so big but at least I will never have to upgrade her again (and she is a "small" 5 months - stretched out she is 5" s/v)!! hope she doesn't get lost

So, I have this great cage, bought a scheff and two small hibiscus for her and I would love some input! For all the months I have been on this forum and have seen photos of setups...well, now that i am doing my own I want to see them again! Feel free to post and/or send me to sites with setups. Of course I will be making the rounds on the web but always love to see yours! and we all know how much we love to show off our chams and our setups

I am especially interested in tips and tricks for catch basin set setup.

FYI: this is strictly and indoor cage (NH) and is the typical window screen size (reptile depot)

thanks!

this is a pic of my male panther chameleon cages. they measure 48"tall x 18"wide x 24"deep. Each contains two ficus trees, a dripper, and a 100 watt trex mercury vapor light. Hope this helps

do you use substrate for humidity? what dripper do you use? I currently use the pinhole in a plastic cup method but I will be gone for a week in Dec. so I want something I can control more.

The dripper I use is the little dripper from zoomed. I have to fill it halfway up once a day for adults and twice a day for babies along with spraying down the cages twice a day. I like to use the bark instead of papertowels to up the humidity since I think the bark is more attractive and I've never seen an adult chameleon eat it, though I wouldn't use it for a baby cham. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions
