what are the signs to look for when a turtle grows? does he just suddenly get larger like a cat or human or do they shed something like a snake?

You may not notice the growht, because you see him everyday. On my turtle there is a transparent yellow ring where his shell is growing. I can see it when i hold him up to the light. You might try measuring or taking photographs with something else in the picture to use as a scale. If your not noticing any type of growth then he might not be getting all the nutrients he needs. Do you have a uva/uvb light? you might try a calcium block, cuttle bone, or a vitamin/calcium powder to sprinkle over his food.
