some burrowing pics...

i took these pics yesterday, during a visit from Doc Seward. this is a 4 ft. Beaded cage, and this was a deep burrow, we had to knock off about a foot of "burrow roof" just to get in there and get the Beaded out, so it was actually even deeper than it looks here, you wouldn't be able to touch the back of the burrow...

looking down into the burrow (still occupied) after we had knocked away a lot of ceiling...

What type of substrate is this? Some sort of sandy/soil mix? We are looking for a good display substrate for our gila exhibit. Thanks, Rob Carmichael
