Considering an anole

asia2003 Nov 05, 2003 08:02 PM

I am considering geting either a green or a brown anole, I am wondering though if you guys have any advice on a reputable breder, and typical price range on these guys?

Thanks in advance.

They're relatively inexpensive to buy, but supplying the right caging and lighting gets pretty expensive. A 20-gallon tank or reptarium will run you between $20-50 usually, and that's for a single anole. UVA/UVB light bulbs usually need to be replaced every 6 months and are around $15 or more. Substrate, plants (real or fake), heat lighting, lamps, and food are other necessities that usually aren't too expensive. Anoles are usually cheap, but it really matters where you live on how much they cost, and most are wild caught although you could look through the Kingsnake classifieds to find captive bred ones, I'm sure. Kingsnake also has a very good caresheet on anoles, although it's better targeted towards Green anoles over Brown ones. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
