Very first bp!!! Quick question

shelby514 Nov 05, 2003 08:22 PM

very very happy. finally recieved my bp today...he's a gorgeous normal (and maybe i'm biased) but he's the most handsome snake i've ever see seems completely healthy, very active, and relaxed. he's been traveling all over the tank, has climbed and just kind of hung out on his branch for the past few hours. but for the past ten minutes or so he's just kind of lain there with his head up at a fifty degree angle or so, poised directly above his water bowl. hasn't moved an inch. am i being to caution being slightly alarmed at this? i've heard and read about repiratory problems, but are there any signs i should always be on the look out for? lol thank you so much!!!! i'll have to post a pic.....

Unless he is gaping or blowing bubbles there probly isnt anything to worry about. He just explored his new surroundings and is resting now.

the new baby breathe at night! LOL
If your snake has it's head in that position ALL the time, then worry. If it is only a short time thing, he just wanted his head like that! Things to watch for with RI are holding the head up (ALL the time), bubbles coming out of the mouth as it breathes, and wheezing/gurgling sounds as it breathes.
Love to see a pic! Welcome to our obsession!
