beardies...

Hey, i havent been here for a while, im really busy with a new parrot , but i was just wondering a few things

I havnt taken Ralph out in a while, and he seems mad at me..lol sounds crazy and very anthropormorphic, but still true...He looks at me with these glares and run away, i think it is because i havnt taken him out in a while,,

well anyway

brumation questions:

Im slowly decreasing the hours of the timer, maybe an hour decreased every other day. My younger female is settling down under a log in her cage, i get her out and feed her, thought she was sick but i geuss shes just brumating!! my male, however, doesnt go down. He is still up, and they are on the same timer. Should i keep decreasing hours? will he eventually go down? i took off all lights except his MVB, and its moved away to cool down so he has relativly only a 87-94 degree basking spot now, (tryin to slow the big boy down)

how often do you all feed them during brumation. Ive got roaches and silks, and i have been feeding ralph 2 roaches every other day (along with salad which he usually eats, but hasnt lately) this is just the brumation diet, trying to make him think its time to settle down. My female only took 1 roach, no salad, 3 supers, and i set her up at her basking. She just sat there half opened eyes for like 2 hours and so i put her back on the ground. She burrowed back

Answers or comments please...thanks!!

How old is your male? They usually don't brumate until their second winter, but may or may not slow down.
He will just do it when he feels like it, I wouldn't make it any cooler then you have it.

I know some people that leave lights on their normal cycles and their beardies will brumate anyway. So, I would let him tell you what he wants.

My male that is always first down is still up, he spends a day or two in his hide, then comes back out for a week or two.

I know these aren't solid answers, but I think the surest way is to follow their lead. If yours is still active, feed him as you normally would, just make sure there is enough heat that he can still digest.
