Which kind of albino???

vk Nov 05, 2003 09:38 PM

I have found this odd baby in a clutch from a normal amel female and possible fathers were a normal amel male and a Snow male or maybe both. Some eggs from this clutch died, all hatched normal amel babies had at least one kink, but this strange baby is perfect. Have you seen this kind of albino corns and how do you name it? Thanx in advance..,

That is one awesome snake. At first i thought, "Not another 'i know my snake is an amel, but' question" but then i saw the pic It may still be a regular amel but i can't be sure because i have seen how babies change from hatching to adult and they go through some pretty drastic changes. I would hold onto that baby if i were you, but if you don't want him, send him my way!

Neat little corn you have there... I'd hold on to it. If it still looks weird as an adult, I'd keep some offspring from it, breed those together, and see if you get the morph popping up in the F2s. If you're lucky, you may have a new gene on your hands. Then again, it could just be a one-shot weird-looking snake.

. . . it's gonna be a super rich colored sunglow. I've hatched ones like this and to a lesser degree some that resembled snows that had a slight overspray of orange on them. Within five sheds they were normally orange amels and by the time they were adults, they were the richest colored sunglows imaginable. I'd say the worst case scenario is that you'll end up with a shockingly gorgeous sunglow and the best case scenario is that you've got a new genetic combination.

I'm not saying that's exactly the case with your snake, but if you'll show us updated pictures from time to time, I'll be hoping you don't have the same genetics I do and you have something different there.

Best wishes,

Don

It looks like a normal amel to me.
I've seen this before, and the adult colors are very dark reds and very bright oranges. It will certainly be a vividly colored snake.

I will follow your advice and will breed this guy later to see how the 2d generation will look like.
