He's not a giant, but not too bad for Illinois stock. A little over 7' and about 15 yrs. old.

Nice looking snake and 15 years old? How long have you had him in your collection? Thanks for shareing.

Thanks. I've not had him nearly that long... only a couple of years. I've got some various snakes that are 10-12 yrs. old that I've had their whole lives, some from LLoyd Lemke, RIP. He was a great guy that would talk to you forever. I've been thinking a lot of him lately...

Very nice. And quite typical for the region. Tri-colored. White or yellow groundcolor with black saddles on the neck and tail, and rusty blotches at mid-body. Rarely, a really neat one pops up that has no brown and is black-saddled the entire length. These rare individuals remind one of a dark northern pinesnake.

Haven't been to Kankakee in over twenty years. Last visit we observed nine adults in 45 minutes. While the bullsnakes are still there, they've been hit hard by the Chicago area pet stores and a couple of ruthless wholesale collectors from Indiana. The suitable area has been shrinking since my first visit there some 35 years ago. Still, they persist. Now I feel old, LOL!

Cheers, Terry Vandeventer

Next to a clean NJ Northern Pine, they are one the most striking, high contrast colubrids available.

i think that they're really an eyeful! mine are so black that they look like an eastern king at first glance. ;-] but my neighbor dislikes them for the same reason!? to each his own.....as usual.

i showed that same neighbor the striped pacifics you sent and he sniffed, 'they look like dekay's, i don't like 'em.' LOL! he'll change his tune when he sees them a year from now i bet. better put him on your 04 list now.........haha
