Keeping warm

khalliaar Nov 05, 2003 11:49 PM

I was wondering what would be a good way to keep my little guy warm when transporting him to and from the pet store. Because I'm too young to drive I must take the bus. I live in british columbia so it is cold here right now. The bus ride is about 15 minutes and there would be a little time waiting outside for the bus. I really want to take him in to make sure he still seems healthy, but I don't want him to get cold on the way. Any advice on this would be apreciated. O ya and a ride from my parents is out of the question. They hate the snake.

Have you thought about a pillow case and belly heat, yours.

Actually I have. Thats what I do when he's out in my room and I think he's getting too cold. But would that be enough when outside in about 5 degree (celcius) weather?

I wonder how a pillow case placed inside an insulated cooler would work?

just double the pillow case and stick it under your shirt or sweatshirt and then put your coat on over that and the snake will be fine. just remember to open the top of the pillow case every so often to check on your little guy.at least thats what i do!

Try getting some of those hand warmers and activate abunch of them and place them in a pillow case and put your snake in a diffrent pillow case so he isn't directly on the warmers and those warmers are good usually for about 4 to 8 hours. Be sure to use a thick pillow cases such as flanel. lola

I keep hearing about these 'hand warmers'. What exactly are they and where do you get them from?

Thanks.

A hand warmer is usually a plastic pouch that contain two chimicals. When you break the barrier between the two chemicals they mix and create heat. The only problem with them is that they can get to be over 100 degrees. I dont' know where you could get them in the states but in canada I'm pretty sure you could find them at places such as canadian tire.
Thanks for all the help.
