ouch- hognose bite

tom Nov 06, 2003 01:40 AM

My twelve year son reached into our 9inch albino western’s enclosure, like reaching his hand into
a Halloween candy bag. Surprise! You never what your are going to get unless you look first.
At least everyone is ok now, he didn’t even jump when she got him but you could tell it hurt.
We put his finger snake in tow under cold running water and muffin let him go. Lessons he
learned, always pay attention to the varied personalities of your snakes and look at what you are
doing. Sometimes you just look like a pinky .
Ps. 4 minutes to remove snake. Swelling subsided after 12hours. he is mildly allergic to bee stings

If you'd like to learn more about hognosed and other 'colubrid' venoms, go to my webpage and download our recent studies in the area from the publication page.
