Interesting Venezuela boa (photos)

RioBravoReptiles Nov 06, 2003 10:55 AM

After some effort I managed to pry some very neat Venezuela imperator from a dealer who had imported them back in August. Here's a close-up of one.

From several E-mail discussions with the very knowledgeable P. Faulhaber in Caracas I learned that these boas come from the north-western region of Venezuela, the Maracaibo and Paraguanera regions. Neat boas! This one seems to be nearly anerythristic, none of the group shows much color at all. Full- body shot.
.

Thanks for looking.

The best specimen form that region have a lot of yellow, they are dark but the white spots and subcaudales scales are yellow, Paraguanensis Boas are really beatifull animals and they are just found in the Paraguana Peninsula, so there is the posibility to be a sub specie becuase of the geographical isolation, but of course we need a lot field and taxonomy study first
