Vietnamese Mandarin Rat

zamenis Nov 06, 2003 12:16 PM

Two year old female from my vietnamese mandarin group. They are now about 3-4 ft. long. But I hope some males they will grow up in the next years to 5 ft. or longer.

1. I haven't seen such a red mandarin.
2. I didn't know they got so large.

Very nice animal. I've been looking for Vietnamese Mandarins for several years. Have you bred any of that form, yet? Mandarins from N. Vietnam are supposed to get quite large I believe

In Europe pure vietnamese are breed regularly by Rainer Fesser, the snake in this pic is 170cm

Thanks for the link, Nazza. We need to get some of those Vietnamese in the U.S.

He ist my largest male from my secound Vietnames bloodline. He has nerly no red. More pics of red females coming soon.

He is very nice looking. It seems there is a lot of variability in the Vietnamese mandarina. They have such large black margins around the yellow, but it looks as though the black is often split by yellow. They are really nice animals and I hope we get some in the U. S. soon. Thanks TC.

Here is another male. You see they have a high variability. As Baby he had no yellow within the black spots.

Interesting pattern on that snake, Stefan. A pretty one, none-the-less. I wonder what's causing the yellow to fade and the blotches to break up? Obviously, it's near the southern part of its range. Thanks for posting. TC.
