need some help

taralynn_hughes Nov 06, 2003 01:34 PM

Over the last few monthes, we have been collecting plants from various places to give to Roan and Jade. They are all now fertalizer free, and all scrubbed down ready for action. Thing is, we need to re-arrange thier cages to make room for the plants. And it could use a real good cleaning once everything comes out. But We don't have anywhere to put Roan, and then Jade, while we do this. We have a small ficus tree that we are trying to grow, but it may be to small for roan. It's about three feet tall and most of the branches are small, so I am afraid he'll snap the branches if he climbs on them and get sap in his eyes. And all the good plants are going into the cages, so we can't let them hang out in there. We have a very large umbrella tree, (6feet) but it is the bad one...i think.

Any ideas for what we could rig up to take them out and let them hang out?

Nice cage! Did you make it??

As for where to put them...I am working on Luna's cage right now and she is on her jungle gym! I just used sash cord/rope and have hooks in the ceiling to hang them on. Just make sure it is secure enough. The only other thing to keep in mind is that they can't reach over to something else that is hanging and may lead them to somewhere you don't want them to go. Luna can only go to other hanging ropes - she's have to do quite a jump to get anywhere else! LOL!

it was Frasier's jungle gym that gave me the idea. here's a recent thread on it. I think you will find this to be a great place to put them when you need to work on the cage. Hope this helps!

(this pic was the first time I put it up and she actually spent the whole night there! She was VERY thirsty inf the morning so I decided not to do that again)

When I clean Sanchoz's cage I just hang a branch up in a window using yarn we have around the house and attatching it to the rolled up blinds at the top of the window. (he cant climb up the yarn its to flimsy)

I dont know if you have a branch you could use or if everything is going into the cage- you could also keep out a vine and put it in last when you put your guys back into their cage.

Just a suggestion

How long do you think you'll need to keep him out? If it is a few hours tops the umbrella tree should be OK. Another idea is a big fake Ficus from your local KMart. I find them handy for really temporary situations like this (even if they are a bit tacky! Just stuff it in a closet or the garage when you're done).
