Two new members of our household

LauraV Nov 06, 2003 08:40 PM

First this little booger has been here for maybe 3-4 weeks. I should have thought to take a pic as soon as we got it, for it just shed out last night and doubled in size! This little baby belongs to my daughter - can you believe it??

We just discovered these little treasures last night. They are maybe 2 weeks old, their eyes have just opened. I only removed this one to look at it, for it was twice as small as its sibling. I am worried that it might not be able to survive the other one hogging all the milk, so I will consult a vet tomorrow on a milk replacement.

WOW!!! I especially like the chinchillas. Tarantulas are cool, but it'll be really painful if you get bitten, although their venom is virtually harmless. By the way, is it true that the Mexican Red-knees have the ability of sending dusts of irritable hairs into the air by scratching themselves on their back? And is it really dangerous for these hairs to get to your eyes or your skin?

LOL No offense but I have a terrible phobia from any spider, from very tiny to very BIG! Spiders just freak me out.

That baby chinchilla is soooo adorable! I have always wanted one. ALWAYS. My boyfriend says I have too many leos to get a chinchilla. I told him that I can never have too many geckos to bring home a chinchilla. Ha ha ha

What is their care like? Do they smell? What do you keep them in? I'm curious?

I have read before about sugar gliders that they can stink if you dont provide them with the right diet. Does that go the same way with chinchillas or not?

Thanx for any info

Chinchillas are so cool. They don't stink, and they bathe by kicking around in a shoebox full of dust.

3.2.2 leopard geckos (Rosie, Locke, Lisa, Caesar, Tommy)
and 1 more egg a' cookin'

Actually, I have a sugar glider too and I must say neither of them smell. Of course, I also have a ferret...neow she can smell.

I keep my breeder pair of Chinchis in a large cage that has three levels. You do have to provide them dust for a dust bath, but other than that their care is really not much different than a bunny.
