Need help with little bugs in mulch!

kcaiman Nov 06, 2003 08:47 PM

in my blue tailed tank i noticed while cleaning the water bowl that there are little bugs crawling all over and in the mulch.. do these pose a real hazard to the monitor? i have Reptile releif, de flea, but on the bottle it says to rub it on and rub it off before putting the monitr back in the tank ( it also says that it can be applied to the monitor ) would it be safe to spary this in the mulch? please help me out.

before you start treating the enclosure or the monitor, you may want to find out what the bugs are. Chances are they are harmless and you'll do more harm than good by adding insecticides into the mix. Are they tiny and white? probably harmless.

get a field guide to insects (from the library, perhaps)and see if you can identify them
