Anyone elses boa on a hunger strike

Rottenweiler9 Nov 06, 2003 09:21 PM

My boas eats like clock work, she has not eaten in 3 weeks. She usually nails the food right away but not latly. She is a year old now. I have tried it all smaller rats, small rabbits, she comes up to the front like she wants it but when I try she just ducks her head. She is getting skinny now, should I offer a pre killed in a couple more days or stick with the frozen ones that she had been eating forever. Any advise Thank you

Have you tried just leaving the food item in the cage overnight? If you haven't tried that yet, I would recommend giving it a go. She might have gotten shy for some reason or another. Also, if you haven't already, check your cage temperatures and make sure she is getting the heat she needs. Good luck.

But its a 3 year old male. I'm assuming he's off feed because he's a big boy now lol, and ready for a lady in his life. I'd say the reason yours is off is a different story. As stated by others, check the husbandry aspect. Temps, times offered, type offered, etc....
