crocodil,
. The Haitian Vine Boa is Epicrates gracilis and the Berry Island Boa is Epicrates striatus fowleri. These two snakes are not very similar. There is another snake, the Haitian Boa, Epicrates striatus striatus which is very similar to the Berry Island Boa. They are subspecific to each other. Their are several different common names applied to all three of these snakes and so it is easy to be confused by the common names. The Haitian Boa, E.s.striatus has much the same type of pattern as the Berry Island Boa, E.s.fowleri but is usually a redder or more purplish colored snake than the often steely grey or bluish grey colored Berry Island Boa. The Haitian Vine Boa is a smaller and thinner snake than either The Haitian Boa or the Berry Island Boa. Being a much more slender snake the Haitian Vine Boa has much fewer rows of scales on it's body. The Haitian Vine Boa is variable in appearance like many other arboreal Boas and usually has circular markings on it's back. The Berry Island Boa and Haitian Boa both have blotches on their backs. BTW, Berry Island is also called Chab Cay and is located in the north central part of the Bahama islands. Berry Island is several hundred miles northwest of Haiti. I am not an expert on these snakes or geography but I am still studying both subjects.
